It is always a heartbreaker when your kid is suffering from an illness, even if that particular illness is as simple as common cold and cough.
It is even harder when seemingly, every time your kid gets sick, one of the parents get the similar sickness that the kid is having.
This has been our case in the house. A couple of weeks ago, our son had an issue with the milk he was drinking that gave him a bad case of diarrhea. He got it probably due to the milk container not being sterilized properly. It took 10 days before we finally figured out what was causing the problem, after trying several stuff to find a cure for his ailment.
We even had a minor scare when one Friday night, he started vomiting, and we had to rush to the hospital (Makati Medical Center ) in the middle of the night to make sure he would be fine. It was even scarier when we found out that majority of the children in the emergency room that time had the same case as our kid. Basically, we spent the night in the emergency room, waiting for his stool test results. Thankfully, he was fine, and the doctor said he was not dehydrated so there was nothing to be scared about. Yay for us!
But then the next day, it was my turn to feel ill. I got the worst case of gastroenteritis! It was probably because of something that I ate Saturday night when I went to an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant. I was also rushed in the same hospital due to the blinding pain in my stomach and dehydration due to severe diarrhea. I spent around 5 hours on a hospital bed in the emergency area with a dextrose connected to my left wrist. Luckily, both Rem and I are under a medical insurance so we did not really spend anything, except for the medicines after discharge.
Right now, our kid has cough and colds and he has been under stress as he is having difficulty in breathing due to clogged nose. He is also having some difficult time dealing with cough because he can’t spit out his phlegm on his own yet. We use Salinase to unclog his nose but that is even more stressful to him because he does not like having liquids dropped into his nostrils.
Incidentally, Jackie is also having a similar health issue. She is having some bad case of coughs and currently taking antibiotics to get rid of the coughing. She is definitely feeling it as it has been a long issue of hers and we just can’t wait until we get rid of that nasty cough.
Currently, everything seems to be fine. Jackie is starting to feel better, though the side effects of the antibiotics are still there. Rem is still his energetic self even though he is obviously having some trouble with his colds and cough. We are just thankful right now that nothing serious is happening and we are all doing well. I hope that both of them will get better soon so we could have better times inside our home.
get well soon roland, you and your family. everybody seems to be getting the bug nowadays.
